The Heritage of the 911 Turbo

The New 911 Turbo

The 911 The 911 Turbo has been the pinnacle sports car since 1974. Since this year it has always been the sports car other auto makers try to reach and use as their target. The new incarnation of the 911 Turbo has raised the bar once again. Contributing to this new height is the advancement of technology within the vehicle such as VTG (Variable Turbine Geometry). VTG provides the new 911 Turbo with characteristics of both a large and small turbocharger within the same turbo. This is achieved by angling the guide veins within the turbo resulting in higher horsepower and further cutting down in “turbolag”. Generating this power is one technological feat, but planting it to the pavement is another. Connecting the rubber is Porsche’s new PTM (Porsche Traction Management). For best traction the new 911 Turbo uses an AWD system controlled by the PTM. Most AWD systems use a “viscous” fluid to translate power around the car, the new system uses an electronically controlled clutch which results in more direct and exact power layout. The advantage of the electronically controlled multi-plated clutch is the ability for the car to be constantly monitored for all driving conditions giving the driver the maximum driving experience at all times.

These technologies are just a few to the new 911 Turbo. There are many more advancements and heights reached with the latest incarnation of the Turbo. As true to its name, the new Porsche 911 Turbo offers the best in driving experience and spirit and delivers a true drivers car in every sense of the word.
